I Love Challenges
I have always very much enjoyed making stuff. Sometimes the things I make work out, but more often I end up learning what NOT to do.
The most important thing I have learned from this is persistence.
In high school my friend Nick and I made a trebuchet, but we made the arm disproportionately long for the base. So naturally we just made a bigger base and the machine ended up being 6 feet tall, 9 feet with the arm raised. We loaded a lead slab into the counterweight bucket, and were able to launch soccer balls half a block down the street.
After high school I started working in Heat Treating, and I loved maintaining the machinery. Through a lot of long hours I learned welding, troubleshooting, how to read blueprints and electrical schematics, how to wire machines, and how to order parts. Before leaving Maintenance for Engineering, I was able to successfully plan a job, source parts and labor, and effectively manage a project from start to finish and through production.
After finishing my bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering from Oakland University, I began my engineering career, working on circuit analysis, testing, and requirements, before becoming a release engineer.
My hobby side projects have continued in 3d printing and design, and into hobby level CNC machines, as well as various home projects. The goal of this site is to share some of my projects and adventures in the hopes that it might inspire or help others. I hope you are able to enjoy it!
